Indian Cricketers who struggled before achieving success

Mahendra Singh Dhoni:

Mahindra Singh Dhoni is one of the most successful and popular cricketers in  Indian cricketing history and is known across the world for his accolades. Dhoni is known as captain cool for his calm demeanor on the field and his ability to take tough decisions without being flustered. This makes him one of the best captains to have played for the National Team. He was also the captain for the Indian premier league franchise Chennai Super King’s and was highly appreciated there as well.

The Dhoni we know today is one of the richest people in India. With a net worth of crores, he’s extremely rich and successful. But this wasn’t the case when he started out and he has had his fair share of struggles to reach where he is now. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born in 1981 in Jharkhand to father Paan Singh and mother Devaki Devi. His father was a junior manager at MECON (a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Steel). His mother was a housewife.

Paan Singh wanted his son to join a government job and hence Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to join Kharagpur Railway station as a TTE(traveling ticket examiner) and had to juggle between his cricketing career and his job at the moment. There came a moment when he had to choose between the two as he couldn’t manage both.
