Sri Lanka to Investigate the 2011 Cricket World cup match

In the 2011 cricket world cup final, where team India envisaged Sri Lanka team and won the crucial final against them and since after the final, Sri Lanka cricket team  and also the Sri Lankan Sports minister claims many allegations on the Indian cricket team and also about the final.

After a series of investigation the Sri Lankan team finally decided to put a criminal investigation into the matter, it all started when the former Sri Lankan Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage puts the allegation on some ICC officials that they have fixed the match to ensure team India wins it in their own backyard.

While some other Sri Lankan legends whom played that final for the team has denied this speculations, but a probe into the matter has finally begun now.

The Sri Lankan Secretary of Sports Ministry said:

“It is handled by the (police) independent Special Investigation Unit on sports-related offences.”

“I feel I can talk about it now. I am not connecting players, but some sections were involved,”

Aluthgamage is not the only person to put the allegation against the final, the former Sri Lankan player Arjuna Ranatunga has also shares the same opinion and asks for a investigation on this topic.

In the 2011 cricket world cup match, Sri Lankan team batted first and put 274 runs on the board and with the help of Gautam Gambhir and Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni team India claimed their second accolade after 1983.

With the game of cricket, corruption has been one of the biggest problems with it, and earlier also in many other matches the cases of corruption have come up against many well-known players for many countries and they all have also paid a big price for that their mistakes as well.
