Who is Amit Mishra?
Amit Mishra is an Indian cricketer who was born on November 24, 1982. He is a right-handed tail-ender batsman and right-arm leg-break bowler.
He presently plays for the T20 team Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League and represents Haryana in the Ranji Trophy.
He has also played for India in Test, ODI, and T20 matches. Mishra played for India in the squad that won the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
How has the career of Amit Mishra been?
After Harbhajan sustained an injury, Mishra was called up for the tour of Bangladesh and made his debut in the First Test in Chittagong as the lone spinner. As a night watchman, he scored 50 in the second innings and claimed seven wickets.
However, he was excluded to make way for Ojha in the next Test. He then achieved his top score of 84 in the last test match while playing for the Indian cricket team in England in 2011. For India’s 2016 tour of the West Indies, Mishra was a member of the team. Six wickets were taken by him in two tests.
After captain and starting leg spinner Anil Kumble sustained an injury during the second Test against Australia at Mohali (PCA stadium), Mishra made his Test debut. He was the match’s main wicket-taker as India advanced to a commanding victory after taking 5 wickets for 71 runs in Australia’s first innings and then 2/35 in the second.
During the 2003 TVS Cup, Mishra made his debut in the first One Day International (ODI) match against South Africa. Mishra also represented India in 2009 ICC Champions Trophy hosted by South Africa.
For India’s 2016 tour of the West Indies, Mishra was a member of the team. In one of the two T20I matches, he recorded a career-high 3/24 while collecting three wickets.
He was a part of the ODI team for New Zealand’s tour of India in 2016–17. He was named Player of the Series for his 15 wickets in the five games, including 5/18 in the decisive match that gave India a 3-2 series victory.
He clinched a brilliant hat-trick for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Pune Warriors India on April 17, 2013, in game six of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2013), becoming the first player to clinch three hat-tricks in IPL history.
He earlier clinched a hat-trick while representing Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2008 against Deccan Chargers and then again while representing Deccan Chargers in IPL 2011 against Kings XI Punjab. He was selected for the Cricinfo IPL XI based on his 2013 achievements.
He participated in the IPL 2015, IPL 2016, and IPL 2017 for Delhi Daredevils. He was acquired by the Delhi Daredevils in the 2018 IPL auction in January 2018.
He will be back for the 2019 IPL. Mishra had a strong start in the 2020 IPL, grabbing 3 wickets at a 7.20 economy rate.
After Lasith Malinga (170 wickets) and Dwayne Bravo (170 wickets), Amit Mishra has taken the third-most wickets in Indian Premier League history.
