On January 14, 2018, Markande made his Twenty20 debut for Punjab in the 2017–18 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was acquired by Mumbai Indians in the 2018 IPL auction in January 2018.
On February 7, 2018, at Bengaluru, he made his List A debut for Punjab, making his team debut for the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He got seven wickets in his first two games, including three on his debut.
Markande was selected for India B’s roster for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018. On November 1, 2018, he made his first-class debut for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy for the 2018–19 season. With 29 dismissals in six games, he was the tournament’s top wicket-taker for Punjab.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) marked him as one of the top 8 players to keep an eye on before the 2018 IPL season. In October 2019, he was named to India C’s roster for the 2019-20 Deodhar Trophy.
