The first T20I game between India and Australia was an emotionally charged one. This was the first time the Indian cricket team was taking the ground after the deadly Pulwama attack.

The ghastly terrorist attack was carried out on 14 February. An explosive-laden SUV slammed into an army truck convoy. As a result more than 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives. The whole nation was shocked and showed heavy outrage against Pakistan.

Throughout the T20I game, there were chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ in the crowd of Vizag. But before the game began both the teams showed their respect towards the martyred soldiers by observing a two-minute silence.

Moreover the entire Men in Blue were wearing black arm-band as a tribute to the martyrs. The two-minute silence was maintained after the national anthems of both the countries were played.

Meanwhile during the tribute was being paid, the crowd inside the stadium was ecstatic and making noise. Indian skipper Virat Kohli gestured them to remain quiet. While it is not known whether his gesture was seen or not. But it was a commendable gesture by the skipper, who once again led from the front.

India lost the thriller in the final ball

Meanwhile the Men in Blue has once again lost the opening game of the series. This has become a norm nowadays as they make a comeback later in the series.

Australia won the series and took fielding. India could post only 126 runs for the loss of seven wickets because of a middle-order collapse. Had MS Dhoni not been in the middle, the team wouldn’t have even completed their quota of 20 overs.

However the veteran couldn’t do much as he struggled and scored just 29 off 37 balls. The Aussies were always the favorites in the chase. They were cruising at one stage with 89/2.

However the Indian bowling came back and suddenly the Aussies collapsed to 113/7. They needed 14 runs off the last over against Umesh Yadav. However Pat Cummins and Jhye Richardson held their nerves and got their team over the line. As a result Australia took a lead in the two-match T20I series.
