The 2019 IPL will always be remembered for the exploits and devastation of an Australian and a Windies batsman. They are David Warner of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Andre Russell of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Russell is among the top five run-scorers with 392 runs and strike rate of 217.77. On the other hand Warner has started where he left in 2017 and is currently leading the run chart.

He became the first player to cross the 500-run mark in 2019. Warner along with Jonny Bairstow has been the pillar of SRH’s batting. From 9 innings, Warner has already got 7 fifty-plus scores. He is running towards his 3rd consecutive 600+ scores in IPL season.

SRH’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan believes it is tough to bowl to Warner and Russell. He said that the only way is to stick to the basics and hope for the best outcome. This is because when a batsman is in song, they can hit the good balls too.

“I think in T20s when someone is in form and hitting even good balls, you need to back yourself by bowling your best. You can’t do anything differently. Like the way Russell is hitting in the tournament is unstoppable. He is hitting everyone. As a bowler, you have to give your 100% and hope it works,” he said in the post-match press conference.

Rashid doesn’t change his mindset in any format

The leggie was also asked if he has separate plans of bowling in IPL and in the upcoming World Cup. Rashid replied that he treats all the formats equally and doesn’t change his skill-set for different formats.

“My focus is playing cricket. This is shorter format (IPL) and that is longer format (CWC). I never change my mind and skills for any format. I try to be at my best and bowl my best deliveries,” says the 20-year-old.

Even after three years of playing at the top-level, batsmen have found it difficult to handle the Afghan spinner. To this Rashid replied that his release point and quicker deliveries make him tougher to face and different from other fellow leg-spinners.

“I think the release point and quick arm speed I have is quite different from other leg-spinners. The speeds with which I am bowling makes it difficult for the batsman. It is too quick. It not like 85-86 (KMPH), maybe my average will be 95 (KMPH) or something like that. That’s who I love to bowl quicker and the little bit movement from the wicket is helping me.” Rashid Khan added.
