Two-time World Cup hero of India, Gautam Gambhir, recently hung up his boots from all formats of the game. His excellent knocks in 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup brought India all the laurels.

Many were thinking what will be his post-retirement plans. Many contemplated that he might join an IPL team as a part of coaching staff. However all the speculations are now put to rest as Gambhir has officially joined politics.

He chose to join Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Reports suggest that Gambhir might contest the election from New Delhi constituency. Currently that constituency is held by Meenakshi Lekhi of BJP.

Gambhir lives in Rajinder Nagar which falls in that constituency. In that case, Meenakshi will be accomodated to some other constituencies in the capital city.
