When Delhi Capitals handed the ball to Kagiso Rabada in the Super Over, he had a mighty task ahead of him. However he already knew what he would be doing to get his team to victory.

The home team managed to get just 10 runs in front of Prasidh Krishna. With in-form Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik on the crease, it seemed an easy victory for KKR. However Rabada had totally something else in mind.

He bowled six stunning yorkers and pulled off a miraculous win. With that victory Delhi registered their second win in three games. Rabada was under pressure in the beginning as he gave away a boundary in the very first ball.

However hecame back superbly by bowling a dot delivery and then castling the dangerous Russell. With 7 needed off three balls, Karthik and Uthappa could do nothing  but take singles off those vicious yorkers.

All praise for Rabada

Rabada helped Delhi defend IPL’s lowest Super Over total as they defeated KKR by 3 runs. Previously both the teams ended on 185 in their quota of 20 overs. Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer revealed that he knew Rabada would be bowling yorkers in Super Over.

“Kagiso and I had a chat before the super over and he told me that he would go for yorkers all through, first, second, third, every ball. It takes some special skill to execute that,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Iyer also said that they didn’t expect that the match would get prolonged as they needed just 6 in the last over. “Definitely a long day at the office. We didn’t expect it to go that deep, expected us to finish it with an over to spare. Credit must go to Kuldeep Yadav for that over (last over),” Iyer said.

Iyer also revealed that it is very hard to contain Andre Russell once he gets going. Russell came to the crease when KKR was reeling at 61 for 5. After coming he smacked the Delhi bowlers and scored 62 off just 28 and took his team’s total to 185 for 8.

“You can’t control Andre Russell when he gets going. Even his mistimes go for sixes and even the bowlers find it tough to plan against him when things just don’t go to plan,” Iyer conceded.
