India Announce 13-member Squad For Perth Test

The second Test of the four-Test series between India and Australia will begin at the new Perth Stadium on Friday. Hence the visitors have followed their custom and have named a 13-man squad the day before the onset of the match.

As usual Virat Kohli will lead the team from the front. The new inclusions in the squad are left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja and pacers Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Batsman Rohit Sharma and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin have both played in the Adelaide Test. But unfortunately they won’t be part of the Perth Test.

India are currently leading 1-0 in the series as a result of a memorable win at Adelaide Oval by 31 runs. They were pushed to the back-foot because of early setbacks.

The Indians were once reduced to 41 for 4 on the morning of the first day. But talented batsman Cheteshwar Pujara bailed them out with a century (123) and a fifty (71) in two innings.

Skipper Kohli also didn’t have a good game. The Indian bowlers received a special accolade for bowling out the Aussies twice with some good stuff. As a result for the first time ever, India won the first Test of a series played on Australian soil.

More injuries for the visitors

However the visitors have their own concern of injuries. Talented youngster Prithvi Shaw received an ankle injury in the warm-up game against Cricket Australia XI.

As a result he was ruled out of the first two Tests. Now reports have suggested that Rohit and Ashwin have also been left out of the second Test because of injuries.

While Rohit has injured his lower back while fielding in Adelaide, Ashwin has an abdominal strain. Hence he was deemed unfit for the Perth Test.

Although Ashwin had a good game in Adelaide as he picked up six wickets, yet the management doesn’t want to play him. This is done to avoid the same scenario which happened in England and caused a lot of embarrassment.

On the other hand, Rohit had a pretty ordinary game. He scored 37 and 1 in both the innings in Adelaide. All the three players might make a comeback in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne which will begin from December 26.
