Ajinkya Rahane Using Special Bat In Adelaide Test

Team India won the toss in the first Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval. What seemed like a good batting strip gave India an auspicious start to their Test series.

The top order including skipper Virat Kohli failed to take advantage of the pitch. At one point India were down to 41/4 in close to 20 overs.

The fourth wicket which India lost was that of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. However amidst all the coming and going of the Indian batsmen, everyone noticed Rahane’s special bat.

Rahane’s special bat was signed by Rahul Dravid, the legendary Test cricketer and the current coach of India A ad U19 team. Dravid had written ‘Best Wishes’ for Rahane before the series.

The selectors had sent some Test specialists to New Zealand to be part of three unofficial Tests. This was done to acclimatize to the same conditions Down Under.

Dravid was the coach of the touring team. As a result both the personalities met and Dravid gave his best wishes to Rahane.

Rahane’s poor form continues

Rahane played with the same special bat and during the time he stayed at the crease, he looked absolutely assuring. However he later played an ugly shot and got himself out and left India more in the mire. The paparazzi managed to take a glimpse of the bat while Rahane was in the middle.

However those kind words and wishes did not work out as Rahane got just 13 runs from 31 balls. After Rahane got out, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma started batting well and prevented the opposition to dominate them.

Ravi Ashwin and Pujara stitched a partnership of 62 runs, after Rohit got out, which pulled India a bit out of trouble.

Pujara eventually went on to complete his century and India ended the day on 250 for the loss of 9 wickets. Pujara was run out for 123 runs and the umpires called it stumps for the first day.
