Gambhir Says Yuvraj Singh Was Insulted In IPL 2019

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has moved from playing the sport to commentary. He retired from all formats just before the IPL 2019 auction and is currently doing commentary in that same tournament.

Gauti, who won two IPL trophies as skipper of KKR, recently spoke about his former teammate Yuvraj Singh. Gauti believes that Yuvraj was basically insulted during the IPL 2019 auction.

Yuvi first went unsold in the first round of the auction before he was purchased for his base price of INR 1 crore by Mumbai Indians. Yuvraj was Kings XI Punjab’s icon player before moving on to many other teams throughout his IPL career.

Currently the veteran is in the twilight of his career. He last played for his country in 2017 and wanted to perform in IPL to make a final push to his international career.

Neither respect nor money

Gambhir while giving an interview to Navbharat Times said about the 2019 IPL auction. He said, “Yuvraj did not get enough respect and neither did he get enough money, he was paid less in this IPL as well.”

Yuvraj holds the record of being the most expensive player twice in the history of IPL. He won the trophy with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 and also has two hattricks to his name in IPL.

The 37-year-old started IPL 2019 with a fifty. But after a few failures he was dropped and is currently warming the bench. Yuvi was the Player of the tournament in India’s World Cup winning campaign in 2011. He achieved that feat with an illness which was later diagnosed as cancer.
