Hitting 6 sixes in an over is an excellent achievement for a batsman. It was South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs who first achieved this record in ODI format. The record was made on 16 March 2007 and that too in a World Cup game.

The match was played against Netherlands. Gibbs hit Dutch spinner Daan van Bungee for 6 sixes consecutively in an over. Since Gibbs’ heroic, no one has matched this achievement in ODI format in the last 12 years.

The 12th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup will soon begin on 30 May in England. Due to a typical English summer and the presence of hard and flat pitches, a hard-hitting batsman can replicate Gibbs’ feat.

There will be 10 teams who will compete in this mega event. There will hardly be any dull moment in the World Cup. The bowlers will also not give any freebies and it will be a treat to watch the battle between bat and ball in the tournament.

3. Hardik Pandya (India)

Although Hardik is born in Baroda, his on-field antics resembles a lot like his Caribbean friends. His attitude, his swagger and his hard-hitting proficiencies resembles the Windies players.

Hardik’s is India’s answer to seam bowling all-rounders. His inclusion to the squad lends balance to the entire team. The love affair between Pandya and hat-trick of sixes is no longer a secret. Hardik has done this five times so far, all against spinners.

Pandya never plays the ramp shot or the reverse sweep. He neither jumps on the bowler. But his self-confidence and his ability to hit straight down the ground makes him a good finisher.

Pandya has the same ability to hit the ball over covers and also do that over the mid-wicket region. It won’t be anything surprising if he gets going and smashes a spinner for 6 sixes in an over in World Cup.
