What Salary does Indian Cricketers get in 2018?

The most viewed sport in India is cricket where the cricketers are sometimes worshipped as gods, such is the popularity of the sport.

Cricket news: The salaries of most of the Indian players have doubled this year

As the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) is one of the richest cricketing boards of the world, the players under the board also gets the benefit of their hard work.

The Indian cricketers put in a lot of hard work to maintain the amount of fitness needed for playing all throughout the year.

In a country of 1.32 billion people, it is quite hard to get selected in the final playing XI, thus the Indian players deserve their every bit of hard-earned money.

Recently BCCI has revised the annual fee structure for the Indian cricketers and has doubled their salaries which has mostly benefitted Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan and Jasprit Bumrah.

Moreover a new category of Grade A+ was introduced for the players who play the three formats of the game all throughout the year. It was introduced in the ‘Annual Player Contracts’.

Here is the list of various players who belong to the different pay grade categories:

Grade A+

1. Virat Kohli – INR 7 Crores

Virat Kohli does not need a separate introduction as he is the most feared as well as adored cricketer all across the globe.

He is India’s most prized batsman and all the oppositions spend lots and lots of hours trying to figure out how to get his wicket cheaply. However Kohli has never succumbed to pressure and has always managed to maintain his consistency level.

Moreover he stands as the benchmark for many other players when it comes to fitness levels and work routines. It is believed that it was Kohli and MS Dhoni who came up with the idea of ‘Grade A+’ category for players who perform all throughout the year.

Being the skipper of all the three formats of the game, there is no doubt that he will be placed in the Grade A+ category and he draws an annual salary of ₹7 crores.

2. Rohit Sharma – INR 7 Crores

The ‘Hitman’ of Indian cricket has evolved as one of the finest batsman in the limited overs format of the game. Since being promoted as the opener, he has made that place his own.

Since 2013, he has scored 4616 runs in ODIs, which is the highest by any opener, only behind his teammate Virat Kohli. He is also destructive when it comes to T20 cricket.

Although he has not yet made his mark in Test cricket, yet has made good use of the limited opportunities he has been previously provided.

He is the deputy to Virat Kohli in the limited overs format and also draws an annual salary of ₹7 crores like his captain.
