Positives and Negatives of India from 1st ODI against the Windies

As India won the first ODI against the Windies convincingly, one was left to wonder what was new for the Men in Blue in the match.

Cricket news: India won the match convincingly by 8 wickets and with 47 balls to spare

Has the previous problems of the Indian middle order disappeared or has the individual performances of two batsmen masked the inherent weakness of the Indian team.

India won their first-ever 50 overs game at the Guwahati stadium by 8 wickets and with 47 balls still in hand. It was almost a one-sided affair during the chase as the strong partnership between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma added 246 runs for the second wicket in just 31 overs.

Kohli scored 140 from 107 balls, which included 21 boundaries and 2 sixes, while Rohit remained unbeaten on 152 off 117 balls, hitting 15 fours and 8 sixes.

Here we look at some of the positives and negatives for the Men in Blue from this match.

Positives

1. Since the Asia Cup, the Indian top order has been the biggest positive aspect for the team. Although Shikhar Dhawan got out cheaply, skipper Virat Kohli and Vice-captain Rohit Sharma carried on their good form with the bat.

Both these batsmen made a mockery of the target which during the innings break seemed a bit stiff. The opposition bowlers were treated with disdain and they could not do much once both the batsmen got going.
