So, what happens when you are a professional footballer, have played for the likes of Ajax, Juventus, Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United among others, have scored more than 400 career goals, and have won an insane 32 career trophies? Well, you get filthy rich.
Such is the case of Swedish professional footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Currently plying his trade in the United States of America for the Los Angeles Galaxy, the 36-year old footballer has won almost everything there is to win, earning huge sums of money along the way.
In fact, the height of piles of cash in his bank account are second only to the height of his feats in various Zlatan jokes circulating on the internet.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic Early Life and Career
Born on 3 October, 1981 in Malmö, Sweden to immigrant parents, he started his love affair with football at the young age of 6 and almost quit it at the age of 15 to work at the docks.
But God had other plans and he began his professional career at Malmö FF in the late 1990s before moving on to Ajax by virtue of his performance.
It was here that he started showing the killer instincts and poaching skills in front of the goal that he is now world renowned for.
He moved to Juventus two years later and formed one of the most lethal strike partnerships in Europe with David Trezeguet.
He switched alliance again in 2006 and landed at Inter Milan where he won three straight Scudetti.
An expensive and forgettable move to Barcelona in the summer of 2009 was followed by a move to AC Milan where he became the highest paid player in the world.
The fickle nature of his career saw him move again, this time to France to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2012, where he became the club's all time top scorer.
Thereafter, a brief but cash-rich stint followed with Manchester United before his latest move to LA Galaxy in March this year.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic Net Worth
Forbes ranked him at 30th on its annual list of "The World's Highest-Paid Athletes 2017" last year, with his salary/winnings ($27 million) and endorsements ($5 million) totalling to $32 million.
In that same year, his net worth was estimated to be around $141 million by Business Insider, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo ($321.5 million) and Lionel Messi ($295 million) in the rich list.
Much of this wealth could be attributed to the incentivized nature of his contract with Manchester United which saw him earning on the basis of number of goals he scored (which he did fairly regularly, finishing as the club's top scorer that season with 17 goals).
Since moving to Los Angeles though and settling for a paycut of 95% (!!!), his yearly income through salary has come crashing down to 'just' $1.4 million.
However, being a man as shrewd as him, he has opened various channels for himself to widen the scope of his earnings. To this effect, he started his own sportswear company, A-Z Sportswear, in June 2016 in collaboration with Norwegian clothing giant Varner.
He also has his own line of perfumes (Ibrahimovic Parfums) and an Android game with in-app purchases (Zlatan Legends).
Plus, he also has endorsement deals with brands like Nike, Microsoft, Volvo, Nivea, Vitamin Well sports drink and others to broaden his revenue stream.
Considering all the above factors and analysing related data, his current net worth comes out to be around $150 million, meaning he ain't bankrupting anytime soon!
