World Cup 2018 Team of the Tournament

Midfielders

Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium)

De Bruyne excelled at every position his coach used him for Belgium in the 2018 World Cup. His memorable moment would be his goal which knocked out the favourites Brazil in the quarter-finals.

He played a crucial role in the midfield for Belgium and his role in the build-up of the last second goal against Japan in the last 16 does not deserve to be forgotten either.

Luka Modric (Croatia)

The Golden Ball winner of this year’s tournament was the deserving candidate as he played his heart out to carry his team to the first-ever World Cup final.

He scored against Argentina and Nigeria in the group stage and played a pivotal role in the knockout matches as well.

N’Golo Kante (France)

Kante played every minute of the tournament except the final where he failed to struggle with the Croatian midfielders and was withdrawn in the second half.

He had been an absolute machine in the previous six matches and had his last 50 minutes in Moscow been underwhelming, he would have been in contention for the best player.

Ivan Perisic (Croatia)

Perisic has been a symbol for non-stop work ethic and has played a vital role in Croatia’s journey to the 2018 World Cup final.

He scored and assisted in the semi-final win against England and also scored the equaliser against Croatia in the final which held the two teams level for a short period of time.
