The Gaurs head into the match on Thursday with 11 points from eleven games and FC Goa know that they must pick up maximum points from their remaining fixtures if they are to stand a chance of making the playoffs.
The Brazilian legend and FC Goa’s head coach Zico is well aware of his side's current situation, and speaking to the media on Wednesday, Zico made it clear that winning is the only way left for his team.
FOOTBALL MATCH:
As Zico said,
“Everyone is very conscious of the fact that we have three matches ahead and that we must win all three games. We did not want to be in this situation but now that we are here, we have to give our best,”
The Gaurs have never defeated the first season champions Atletico de Kolkata in their seven meetings so far with their clash against ATK earlier this season ending in a 1-1 draw.
And speaking on that, Zico said
“It is a very good team with great players, with a very good attack, and we have to play our best against them. We had a very good game against them in Kolkata where we created a lot of chances and we will try to repeat that in this game and not give them any chance for victory.”
The Brazilian legend Zico, who led the Goa side to last season’s final also spoken about the errors that his players has made this season,
“In some games, we wasted so many chances to win the game and points, and even in the last game we had a clearly opportunity from which we could have won the game,” Zico said.
And when the 63-year-old Zico has been asked how he is planning and organizing his defense ahead of the clash tomorrow given his side have already conceded 14 times this season,
Zico said,
“I think in the last game, we have been solid in defence and I hope in this game our defence will be tight again and I don't separate the team on basis of defence or attack as both need to help each other and I see the team as a whole.”
