And the Portuguese manager of Northeast United F.C, Nelo Vingada looks forward to keep fighting for the playoffs berth after defeating FC Pune City as the former Ivory Costa international Romaric's free-kick in the 82nd minute thatelped the Highlanders to grab the three points for Nelo Vingada and Co.
And the Highlanders' manager Vingada admitted that Tuesday’s match was critical and his side won the tie because of their enthusiasm. Vingada also stated that most of the passes by Northeast United F.C. in the game weren't accurate and still hopes that his side are still in the competition and all the teams are in the race to qualify for the semis.
As Vingada said,
''It was a very intense game. Concerning the technical aspect, some games which we've played have been better than today. But one thing remains in sport – the win. We won today because of our spirit and capacity to fight,''
''We put pressure and made good movements inside the box. Some last passes did not come off well,'
''We are in the middle of a big confusion where it (play-offs spot) is open for all teams. NorthEast United are back!''
The Portuguese man and the former Jordan manager, Nelo Vingada was highly impressed with the fans, who turned up for supporting the squad even though the attendance was less than the normally packed Sarusajai Stadium.
And when Vingada has been asked to comment on the less than expected turnout of the supporters,
''The supporters who came today are the real Highlanders and if I could, I would shake hands with them one by one. They deserve this (win). We believe that it is still possible. It will be hard and difficult but today we took a good step.''
''The people who didn't show up maybe they don't believe that we can still overcome this situation. We will fight till the last drop of our blood!''
