LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS:

Speaking to the media ahead of the game at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday, Zambrotta said,

“We, of course, want to win and take the three points and we have this mentality that we want to do our best, and we are playing to win tomorrow. We would also want to win against Mumbai [on Saturday], so with this mentality we want to play our games.”

“Tomorrow we know Northeast are in a must-win situation as regards their semis chances, and we know that tomorrow will be an intense game and we are here to play good football and take maximum points.”

FOOTBALL MATCH:

Earlier this season, when the Highlanders went to the capital to play against the high flying team Delhi Dynamos FC, the result was 1-1 draw in the capital city.

And most importantly Delhi has never lost to the Highlanders. When asked if that could be a factor tomorrow,

The Italian Zambrotta said,

“I think what happened in the past is not very important, and my philosophy for this game is to just think about tomorrow’s game and not about the past.”

“I think NorthEast is a very good team and it is one of the best teams according to me because they have good quality and play very well.” Zambrotta added.

Delhi Dynamos FC has been the most attacking teams this season with 26 goals in their 12 matches, but also they have also leaked 15 goals and when the head coach Zambrotta has been asked is that defense is a problem for the Lions?

“No, the defence is not a problem and ours is a team which likes to attack and at times we do end up giving an opportunity to the opponents but we are working on this to get better,” he said.

“Usually we do not think about the starting eleven. We decide on the same day, and we see which players are fully fit and are the best options, and regarding opportunities for other players…it depends on the match. At the moment we want to wait before we decide the starting eleven.”

Zambrotta replied, when he has been asked if he was looking to rest a few important players for the tie and bring in a few untested ones as they are now in the semis.
