Thibaut Courtois Opens Up On His Potential Move to Real Madrid

The Belgian goalkeeper from Chelsea, Thibaut Courtois, says that he is keeping himself calm over the potential move from The Blues to the Santiago Bernabeu in this transfer window.

Football news: Courtois has been linked to Real Madrid as he wants to get closer to his family in Spain

The Los Blancos side has been determined to strengthen their goalkeeping position as their faith in their current goalie Keylor Navas has dipped in the past few seasons.

The agent of Courtois has also asked the management of Chelsea to let the player go as the player wants to get closer to his family in Spain. Courtois had played for Atletico Madrid in Spain for two seasons.

“I have been reading everywhere that Chelsea are saying it is up to Thibaut, but he has made it clear to the club that the best option for him is to move to Madrid,” Christophe Henrotay said, according to The Sun.

“For him this is a big decision because he wants to be near his family, and there is an offer in place for Chelsea to accept.”

Reports suggest that Real Madrid is waiting for Chelsea to find a replacement for Courtois so that they could go ahead and place a bid for £35 million ($45m) deal.

Both Real and Chelsea had wanted to sign the Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson from Roma, but the goalie eventually decided to join Liverpool.

Courtois has rejected to sign a new deal with The Blues and with one year currently remaining in his contract, it is quite evitable that his transfer will be finalised.

Courtois has said that he is currently relaxed over the potential transfer and Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is trying to change the decision of the 26-year-old player.

"My transfer? I am not going to say anything about that now, it is a delicate situation," he told Belgian press.

"I cannot say much, I am not thinking about that, I am calm and becoming anxious would not help. What is important is to be ready for next season."

Courtois has spent seven seasons with Chelsea, among which he had spent three years on loan to Atletico Madrid.

With Chelsea he has made 150 appearances and had won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup.

With Atletico Madrid, Courtois has won La Liga, Europa League, Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup. He was also part of the 2013-14 team of Atletico which progressed to the Champions League final, but eventually lost to Real Madrid.
