And questioned to the Kerala Blasters coach if he was angry with the debauchery of his strikers, he replied:
“No. You can only create chances. I'm pleased we did that. That gives us optimism going forward. Delhi are a good side and it was important for us to get our noses in front. Another goal would have been fantastic and maybe two more would have been fabulous. But we're pleased. It's a shame that the second leg comes so quick and it's a shame that game is not here,”
Kerala Blasters 23 year old Spanish Midfielder Josu commit lot of unfair tackles during the match but he was lucky not to pick a red card during the match ,and that’s why the English coach substituted the Midfielder with Didier Kadio in the second half.
The coach added:
“I made a judgement call really. He'd been booked and there was friction between him, the referee and Marcelinho. I felt aggrieved that Mehtab (Hossain) was booked for his first challenge. Josu made a couple of challenges and I thought one call, in particular, was a foul in our favour. The next minute, he gets upset and I thought there might be more conflict if he played against Marcelinho for another hour. It's not a good idea to play with 10 men. I thought Boris (Kadio) did really well. Physically, he was very good,”
In the first half Kerala striker Kervens Belfort scored a goal for them but the match officials canceled the goal they think that he guided the ball towards the net by using his hand and they disobey the goal last night.
The coach voiced on this matter:
“Nah. Again, you can't change it. There's no point in complaining with the referee. I wasn't happy with some of the decisions, I must admit. But in football, sometimes decision goes both in your favour and against you. If they went against us tonight, it might come in our favour on Wednesday. I thought the referee got better as the game went on. He became stronger and made a couple of strong decisions at the end when they (Delhi Dynamos) were crying out for penalties,”
The coach thinks that in the 2nd leg the Delhi Dynamos side will face the pressure as they have concede one goal in the first leg.
