STEVE COPPELL: ISL THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR ANY MANAGER

The 61 year old English winger thinks that his side Kerala Blasters have a good chance to qualify for the play offs.

Steve Coppell’s men will play their next match against FC Goa in their ISL season fixture at Goa’s home soil on Monday.

The Garus had a wonder full campaign last year under their Brazilian manager Zico, and he thinks this year they had been unlucky so far.

“I think they’ve only had a rough start in terms of results as some of their games have been close. That applies to the whole league as well, the games have been very close and have been changed by refereeing decisions or good individual play. There is not a lot of difference between the teams. I look at Goa with nothing but respect. Under Zico they’ve been on top in the last two years and we will come here to play well and win the game,”:the former Manchester United winger quoted.

This season the Kerala Blaster have faced a lot of animadversion for their attacking might, and the boss thinks that in this stage we cannot say anything ,and we cannot syndic any team this right moment and fate will play big role in this ISL season 3.

"What I would say is it’s based on results. We’ve conceded three goals and all of them had deflections. There is a margin of luck in the league. We can judge teams only at the end of the 14 games. If a team wins three games on the bounce, which every team in this league is capable of, chances are they are going to be in the play-offs. And as it has been, you don’t need to win the league to win the tournament".

“All teams including ourselves have the chance to win on the bounce. Goa have history of doing this, they know what the league is all about. We judge ourselves against Chennaiyin FC, Atletico de Kolkata and FC Goa – teams that have been at the top for two seasons,”he stated.
