SIMEONE: SEVILLA CAN FIGHT FOR TITLE

The 46 year old Argentine boss has been influenced by Jorge Sampoali’s men this campaign and he believes that they can crumble up the big three in the battle for the league trophy.

 

The former Argentine international believes that his side Atletcio Madrid side is taking on a title hostile when they face Sevilla on Sunday.

In this season Atletico Madrid are top in the group, they are sitting in the table with the same points with their Rivals Real Madrid on goal difference, while Jogre Sampoali’s men are just sitting in the third position just one point away.

 

Despite a close season ascendency, they Atlectio Madrid has signed the French player Gamiero from Sevilla in this season and also in Sevilla they have bought Jorge Sampoli in place of Unai Emery, the argentine thinks that Los Nervionenses are susceptible of lasting the footing.

 

"Sevilla is a team with tools, and looking at the numbers, it is a team that can fight for the title," he told a pre-match news conference.

"Sevilla and us, with Barcelona and Real Madrid, are on that path of hope. Sevilla always compete very well and are winning titles.

"They have changed many players and their game is changing and developing but they are still very competitive.

"In the Champions League they are doing very well and are strong in La Liga."

The Atletico Madrid coach has begun his football carrier in Spain with Sevilla, he spends his first two years in Spain with them then in 1994 he was signed by the Atletico side.

 

"Whenever I face Sevilla it is special," he said. "I always remember my passage in the team as a kid.

 

"The people, the atmosphere… I am very grateful for this first stage in Sevilla, which gave me some of the best memories. It is always exciting to visit the Pizjuan."
