Reds win over Manchester City won’t end the title race: Carraghar

Liverpool can go ahead of 10 points clearer of the reigning champions with the victory at Etihad stadium, but even that would be no guarantee of glory.

Liverpool cannot end the title race this soon in EPL.

According to the former Reds Defender the Reds cannot end Manchester City’s title challenge on this Thursday, but a win over them can give them a good leap to capture the premier league crown.

The Red army, will head to Etihad stadium to boasting an unbeaten record and six points lead over the defending titles.

Right now in the EPL table the Manchester City side is sitting at the third spot one point behind the second placed Tottenham and seven points adrift the leaders Liverpool, with the Pep Guardiola’s men have endured a wobble in the last month of December.

If they get unstuck against the Reds on their home ground then they will go 10 points down to the Reds in the EPL race, and that would be some points to bridge, but the Jamie Carragher believes that there would no silverware handed out on this month of January and Liverpool would have to go far to get over the line.

He voiced: “If Liverpool were to win it would open up a huge lead.

“But it wouldn’t be over, there’s still a long way to go.

“If a team with the quality of Man City can lose that ground in a month to six weeks, there’s no doubt it could happen to Liverpool as well.

“[If it ends in a draw] I think seven points would be a very good lead for Liverpool, but it can quickly be turned around in two or three games. There’s still an awful long way to go.

“If City lose it puts them in a very difficult position, but if they win it I think they’re right back in it.

“However, the confidence Liverpool would gain from winning and with the team in that position, what an opportunity that would be to win their first Premier League title.

“Liverpool beat Manchester City three times in 2018, so we should have great belief to go there an actually win the game.

“It will be difficult, of course it will, because City are a top side and they have been there and done it before.”
