Record Breaking Season of Egyptian Messi Continues

Football News:A solo goal against Bournemouth yesterday saw the Egyptian winger become the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to reach the 30-goal mark.

Salah beats Messi to 30 league goals and also breaks Ronaldo’s record.

Mohamed Salah’s record breaking season continues as his header met an excellent cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold to go past the outstretched hand of Asmir Begovic at Anfield yesterday to give his team the second goal.

The Reds went on to defeat Bournemouth 3-0, the other two goals coming from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

With that goal he went on to become the first player in the five major European leagues to score 30 goals this season beating Lionel Messi, who currently sits at 29.

He has also broken the record he had previously shared with Cristiano Ronaldo and Robin van Persie by scoring in 22 league games in a single season.

Salah is now one goal away from breaking Cristiano Ronaldo, Alan Shearer and Luis Suarez’s record of scoring 31 goals in a 38-game season.

Moreover he becomes the first African player to reach the mark beating Chelsea star Didier Drogba who had earlier recorded 29 goals in a season.

In all competitions this year, Salah has scored 40 goals making him the third Liverpool to do so after Ian Rush, who did it twice, and Roger Hunt.

Salah has atleast six games in hand to match or surpass Rush’s 47 goals record scored during the 1983-84 season.

Moreover with the goal in Bournemouth match, Salah extended his lead to five goals over Tottenham striker Harry Kane for the race for Premier League Golden Boot.
