Perez Shuts Down Transfer Doors by Slamming High Price on Modric

Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid club, has shut the door of transfer on the face of potential buyers by saying that if anyone wants to buy Luka Modric, he will have to pay his €750 million (£670m/$870m) release clause.

Football news: Inter are interested in the midfielder but would have to now pay thrice

The Real Madrid star shot to fame in the recently concluded World Cup as he won the Golden Ball award for the Best Player of the Tournament.

He helped his country Croatia to reach the finals of the World Cup but eventually fell to France by a margin of 4-2 goals.

His performance left a host of admirers in his wake and one of those admirers were the Serie A side Inter, who had hoped that Modric will change sides after the World Cup.

However Perez has dismissed any possibilities by sticking an exorbitant price tag which is sure to drive away any potential buyers.

"The only possibility that Modric leaves is by paying €750 million," Perez told reporters.

The Croatian is now on vacation after the ending of the World Cup until next week as his contract with Madrid runs till June 2020.
