Panucci Warns Ronaldo about Consequences after Leaving Madrid

The former defender from Real Madrid, Christian Panucci, has wished Cristiano Ronaldo huge success with Juventus, but has also warned him telling about his experiences.

Football news: Ronaldo might regret leaving Madrid, says Panucci

Panucci had played for Madrid for three years in which he won La Liga, the Supercopa de Espana, the Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup, but later moved to Inter where he failed miserably and could not cope with Coach Marcello Lippi.

The 45-year-old gave mainly positive reviews on the €100 million (£88m) move of Ronaldo to Serie A champions, but has also said that the Portuguese icon might live to regret his decision.

"When I left Madrid I was convinced," Panucci told El Partidazo de COPE .

"I wanted to leave Madrid and it was the biggest foolishness of my sports career, and I regret it now.

"Cristiano is going to win because he is too good a player not to do it. It's normal madness for Cristiano, he's the best in the world.

"He's a very smart signing who is going to give other great players a push to come to Italy.

"Being a champion is in his blood."

Panucci also believes that Madrid will also have a tough time adjusting to the changes as before Ronaldo’s departure, three-time Champions League winning head coach Zinedine Zidane had resigned and was later replaced by Julen Lopetegui.

Zidane had won the La Liga title in 2016-17 but failed to retain it the next season, but Panucci believes it would be difficult to replace the Frenchman.

"It could be a difficult season for Madrid," he said.

"Zidane is leaving, Cristiano is leaving. It's not easy to substitute them and more after winning three Champions Leagues in a row."
