Serginho thinks that alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, the Brazilian superstar Neymar will be at his best and will be a star at the World Cup.
After suffering an injury in 2014, Neymar will definitely shine for his country in Russia, says Serginho
The Paris Saint-German forward is currently recovering from a foot surgery and is hopeful to get completely fit in time for Brazil’s opening game against Switzerland on June 17, 2018.
Serginho, who is himself a Copa America winner and a finalist in Confederations Cup with Brazil in 1999, expects that his compatriot is going to play a leading role in the Russia World Cup.
In domestic level, Serginho had enjoyed a successful nine-year career with AC Milan, which included Champions League wins in 2002 and 2007.
The 46-year-old said, "I hope Neymar can come back at 100 per cent. He had a rather bad injury but he will be back in time.”
"He's among the best in the world alongside Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He will be one of the great names at this World Cup."
After suffering a humiliating 7-1 defeat to Germany in semi-finals of 2014 World Cup, Brazil have undergone a lot of changes so much so that Tite’s side are among the favourites to claim the 2018 trophy.
"I think, after 2014, Brazil have completely changed their mentality," said Serginho. "Today, they are a much stronger side. Thanks to Tite, they rediscovered the joy and creativity to play football, which was exactly what they missed in 2014."
After he witnessed Roma’s dramatic win over Barcelona, he warned that Roma cannot be discounted. He even commented on Juventus’ exit by the hands of Real Madrid and said that he feels sorry for Italian football, as the competition in Serie A is gradually decreasing, and hopes that more balance will come soon.
