The 29-year-old Argentine ace and FC Barcelona’s star forward Lionel Messi is yet to agree an extension to his current deal which expires in the summer of 2018 and has been linked with a move away from the La Liga champions FC Barcelona.
But an international colleague of the FC Barcelona superstar Carlos Tevez says a delay in the penning of fresh terms in Catalonia is a matter of the heart, not money, as Carlos Tevez is confident that the Argentine ace Lionel Messi will commit his future to Barcelona, but also admits Newell’s Old Boys the only side that could lure him away from Camp Nou.
Recently the Argentina international Lionel Messi himself has admitted that he wants to play and stay with Barcelona as long as Barcelona wants him.
But, the Argentine superstar has made no secret of his desire to head home at some stage, having spent his entire professional career to date in Catalonia.
And now the 32-year-old Argentina international and Lionel Messi’s teammate Carlos Tevez admitted that Lionel Messi will definitely commit his future to Barcelona, but Newell’s Old Boys is the only side that could lure him away from Camp Nou.
As Carlos said in an interview with Marca, "The renewal for him, it is not a matter of money, it's more about what his heart tells him.”
"It's difficult to have a long relationship such as the one Barcelona and Messi have had, and I don't think he will leave.”
"The day he does, I think he it will only be so he can go home to join Newell's Old Boys – but it's a personal decision for him."
