MARCO MATERAZZI: IF REFEREE SAYS PENALTY THEN IT PROBABLY IS

Marco Materazzi Chennaiyin FC's head coach shared his thoughts in the resultant of 2-2 draw against Atletico de Kolkata.

Chennaiyin in their first match in the second edition of the ISL they didn’t manage to win the match against Atletico De Kolkata  where they took the lead but fail to hold their lead ,the match ended by 2-2 in Kolkata at Rabindra Sarovar Stadium. In the second half Chennaiyin fc took the lead with the help of Jayesh Rane and Hans Mulder, and in the dying minutes Iain Hume scored the equalizer from a spot kick.

The Italian said that he found the game to be good; he did not getting drawn into the referee's call to give the penalty after Lalrinzuala fouled him.

"It was a good game. I am very happy about my guys because we were losing 1-0. Then they kept compact and we got the lead. About the penalty, it’s hard to say since Doutie was very light and if the referee says that it was a penalty then it probably was. The only thing I regret is that the player who gave away the penalty (Jerry) was 19-years-old and it could be due to his inexperience," he blubberd.

Materazzi felt that it was an improvement for them over the last season’s opener when Atletico de Kolkata beat them by 3-2.

"There is always something to improve otherwise the game would be 3-0. Last year we lost 3-2. When we face Kolkata, you could have expected a good game. They play good football and pass the ball around at will. I don’t look at the fullbacks in isolation. They played out a lot of counter attacks and our defense stood strong. I think, in attack Jeje on one occasion could have gone for the shot himself when he decided to pick out Rane," pointed out the former Nerazzurri defender.
