The former Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic thinks that Manchester United has the firepower to win this season’s Champions League trophy.

The former Red Devils skipper believes that this season under the Special one Manchester United can win the Champions league silverware, where on the other hand their city rivals Manchester City will run away with the Premier League crown.

This season at this stage Manchester United are 16 points away from the first placed Manchester City in their domestic league but in the Champions league they are in the top 16, in the first leg it was a goalless draw against the Spanish outfit Sevilla, and now in the second leg Manchester United will welcome them at the Old Trafford.

The Serbian defender has won one champions league crown and five EPL glory with the Red Devils with his eight years tenure with them and believes this season’s Manchester United squad have got the potential to win it.

In an interview with ESPN, Vidic voiced: "It's Man United. I know the Premier League is bigger, but I think the Champions League could happen,"

"When the season started, I said that I thought United had more chance to win the Champions League than the Premier League because the players they signed didn't have the time to fit in.

"Also, Mourinho is a tactical coach, knows Europe very well. He knows there are going to be scrappy games and how to get through them.

"That's my belief. To win, you need a bit of luck, but there is a chance to get to the semi-final or final. You never know. And if you win a Champions League, the players start to believe. They think: 'OK, speak about me now.' Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, they will look different than now."
