The Bangalore based I league club Bengaluru FC has claimed their first win in eight I-League games, defeating the debutant Minerva Punjab FC by 1-0 at the Guru Nanak Stadium here on Sunday.

The India international and former FC Pune City’s central midfielder Lenny Rodrigues, who is currently playing for the, I league champions Bengaluru FC found the target with a header in the 17th minute as Albert Roca secured his first away win in charge of the club. The result carried the defending champions to fourth place with 16 points from 11 games.

Bengaluru FC’s injured man John Johnson is back to the team, while Serbian striker Marjan Jugovic, signed last week, made his debut for the defending champions. Johnson, who played his last I-League game in January, demonstrated what BFC had missed, winning every aerial duel while giving central defensive partner Juan Gonzalez the freedom to join in attack.

And the defending champions Bengaluru FC, who are struggling this season made a comeback on Sunday in the Hero I- league by ending their winless streak of 7 games with 0-1 win over the hosts Minerva Punjab with the help of a goal from Lenny Rodriguez in the 17th minute of the game, which also ends the unbeaten streak of Minerva Punjab after 6 games.
