I wanted Ronaldo and Messi at awards: Modric

Football News: This time the two dominant candidates skipped the FIFA awards and the Croatian international wanted them to be there.

Modric wanted both the presence of the star in Last night’s event.

Last night the Real Madrid man Luka Modric wanted both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to present at the FIFA event to see him winning the award.

Last night Modric won the award ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mo Salah in London but the Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona forward Messi skipped the FIFA ceremony last night.

The Midfielder who helped his club to win the Champions League last season and led his country to the FIFA final for the first time wanted the duo to be present at the ceremony.

Modric stated: "Everyone has their own reasons,"

"Obviously, I would have liked them to be here but they aren't."

Questions asked if he had spoken to his former teammate Ronaldo or not, in reply he voiced: "No."

The star man added: "He sent me a message the day of the UEFA prize but nothing yet,"

"I don't have my phone with me now so maybe he has [sent a message]."

The former Madrid man Cristiano Ronaldo who won this award for the last two years ended second this season behind Modric.
