I hope Bengaluru FC’s run in the AFC cup works as an inspiration to other clubs from the country: Sunil Chhetri

As we all know that the Bengaluru FC has written their name in the books of Indian football’s history by becoming the first Indian club to reach the final of the AFC Cup. On Saturday, as they defeated the Malaysian champions Johor Darul Tazim in the semi-final.

 

After a heroic win in the semifinal, the former Indian captain and Bangaluru FC’s skipper Sunil Chhetri have admitted that Bangaluru FC’s has an inspirational journey and also believes that, their run in the 2016 AFC Cup has put India on the AFC map in a very wide way and he is hoping that it will work as an inspiration to other clubs of the country.
As Chhetri said in an interview with GOAL,

“I guess this is as big as it can get as far as club football in India is concerned. Our run in the Cup has put India on the AFC map in a very big way. I hope it works as an inspiration to clubs from the country,”

Chhetri has also expressed that he is expecting a super tough match on 5th Nov. and he believes that the one will be the champion who gives their best on the final day. 

As when the 32-years-old has been asked about the possibilities of winning the final,

Chhetri answered, “That’s an answer I’m not sure anyone has! It’s going to boil down to those 90 minutes on the night and whoever gives a better account of themselves walks home with the cup. That’s how I think it will pan out,”
