The Yellow and Red Kolkata giant East Bengal FC are currently standing at the top of the table with 19 points following by their rival club Mohun Bagan with 16 points and the upcoming Kolkata derby will be the most important game for both I league giants.
But the 31-year-old former India international and East Bengal FC’s star defender Mehtab Hossain doesn’t think this is one match which will determine the championship. Mehtab believes East Bengal-Mohun Bagan matches are always tough to call.
As in a recent interview, Mehtab Hossain said, "I don't think this is one match which will determine the championship. East Bengal-Mohun Bagan matches are always tough to call,"
The Kolkata derby is always known for those die hard supports, rough fights between both team players and also between the supporters.
And when Mehtab has been asked about his expectation from upcoming Kolkata derby in Siliguri, the East Bengal defender Mehtab said, "Siliguri is like our second home, but the pitch conditions will be a factor. Oi aar ki, dhakka-dhakki hobe, maar-peet hobe (I think it will be rough and will be a bit of a scrap)."
