Higuain Discloses the Reason behind Choosing AC Milan over Chelsea

Argentine footballer Gonzalo Higuain said that only Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri wanted him but the Blues as a whole did not show much enthusiasm.

Higuain has recently completed his loan move from Juventus to AC Milan, which also included the swap transfer of defender Leonardo Bonucci from Milan to Juventus and Mattia Caldara from Turin to San Siro.

Reports suggested that Chelsea had held talks over signing Higuain along with defender Daniele Rugani, as the Argentine was deemed as excess for the club as they had recently signed the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 30-year-old Argentine has said that he could have moved to Chelsea, but it was only the manager who wanted him and not the entire management.

"In total sincerity, the esteem I have for Sarri is huge but he was the only who wanted me," he said at a press conference.

"Here at Milan everyone wanted me, and this is why I made my choice to come here."

He added: "I have been playing in Europe for 12 years, Milan was the team that struck me the most, it's what the player wants to see: History, lots of green, pure football. It gives you goosebumps, it's special stuff."

Higuain had scored 55 goals in 105 games for Juventus having signed for the Old Lady in 2016 from Napoli.

In Napoli he had scored 92 goals in 147 matches while he scored 122 goals in 264 games for his former club Real Madrid.
