The former Manchester United legend thinks that his former team mate could stay with the Red Devils though reports are suggesting that Rooney will join the Chinese league.
The former Manchester United legend believes that Rooney could have stayed with them if he accepts a reduce role.
Last season he has became the all time leading goal scorer for Manchester United side, but under Mourinho he struggled to find a first team football.
In the last season he has only scored five goals for them in the premier league and only stared 15 games for them and because of that the Manchester United captain is keen to leave the club as he wants more regular team football.
But the former club legend believes he could have stayed with the Red Devils this season as well.
Giggs said: "Wayne is a proven goalscorer, give him a chance Wayne will score,"
"It is whether he can put up with not being first choice or whether he can develop his game which I had to around the same age, not being certain to play every game, but playing 25-30 games and contributing.
"If Wayne can do that then I don't see why he can't still be at the club."
This season Manchester United also searching for a attacker who could fill the spot of Wayne Rooney and Ibrahimovic and they have scouted the Real Madrid attacker Alvaro Morata.
