The Wales international Gareth Bale says that he will never forget this year (2016), as he won Champions league with Real Madrid and also took his country to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.


It’s been a glorious year for the Wales Star, as he played a huge part in making Real Madrid the European Champions. The Spanish giants crowned 11th time as the European Champion last season. Bale tasted success with the club as well as with his Country in the Euro 2016 in France.

Wales were one of the underdogs in EURO 2016, but the winger guided his country to the Semi-finals but then was knocked out by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal. But undoubtedly the winger displayed some football on the pitch and also scored few goals in Euro 2016.

Gareth Bale has being shortlisted in the Best Player in Europe Award and who is up and running along with his own team mate Cristiano Ronaldo and Atletico Madrid’s Antonie Griezmann.


Bale said "Winning the Champions League with Real was the biggest thing for me last season," 

"It was long and tough season, but we fought hard and won what we wanted to win.

"For me, it was a great season, not only with the club. We've had a great Euros, so I'll never forget this year."

On the Best player in European award, Bale said: "It is a big honour to be a finalist.

"These kind of awards you cannot win by yourself, but by playing for the team, so I have to thank my team-mates, both in club and national team, as they are part of this too.

"It would be great to win this award, but I like to focus on what can I do for my team.

"And if it means I'll win some individual award, great, but the team comes first."
