The former Blues legend Lampard believes that this season Chelsea need to reinforce their midfield option and he feels that the transfer could not wait until 2018 summer.
Lampard also feels that Chelsea needs to sign another striker in January to complement Alvaro Morata.
In the beginning of this season Antonio Conte has freeze out the Spanish international Diego Costa and that force the Italian to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
This season the former Madrid player is doing well with the Blues side so far he has scored nine goals for them in his 17 appearances in all competitions.
But still Lampard feels that their striker department is lacking something that they need to feel up before Summer Transfer window,
The former Blues legend says that: “I think they need to add [in January].
“If you’re looking at Morata there, Michy Batshuayi has come in and had moments where he’s scored but seemingly Conte doesn’t trust him.
“Then you have to play [Eden] Hazard there and change a lot of things. So I think maybe a backup striker.
“I think they are going to have to strengthen in midfield at some point but that may be next year.
“But I think you have to keep strengthening because everybody else is.
“Manchester City are, Manchester United are, so to stay in the game you have to keep strengthening.”
Along with Alvaro Morata this season Chelsea has brought Antonio Rudiger, Willy Caballero, Tiemoue Bakyaoko, Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta..
So far they are nine points aback than the top spot and they need to add some reinforcement in their ranks to be the title contender this season.
