The 33-year-old Veteran Italy international De Rossi believes that the inter Milan man could fill his spot in the national team as he believes Gagliardini is his heir and a pillar for the Italy team for the years to come.
There are speculations going on that after the 2015 world cup the Italy international De Rossi will be hung up his boots as previously he planned to quit after Euro 2016.
But because of his team, he reverses the decision and he will turn to 35 at the time of 2018 world cup.
The Roma man believes Gagliardini has got the quality and merit to fill his spot on the national team and also avouched that Italy has got a lot of young talents who can represent them in the upcoming days.
He said: "My 'heirs' are often spoken about,"
"If I think about the players compared to me in the coming years, there's Gagliardini who I believe is destined to become a pillar of this team.
"I hope I don't jinx him, but I saw him for the first time in the Atalanta-Napoli match and noticed that he's different to the others and a great guy.
"I hope that now he can carve out his place [in the Italy team]. He seems really strong and he has the right stuff."
