Cristiano Ronaldo Joins Juventus and it is Official

Real Madrid has now become a former club for the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, as the Los Blancos has confirmed that he will leave the club to join Juventus.

Football news: The transfer is expected to be worth €100m

After Ronaldo indicated that he would be leaving the Spanish side after their third consecutive Champions League trophy win in May, the Serie A champions decided to swoop in and sign the Portugal captain.

Ronaldo was presently enjoying his holiday in Greece and the Juventus president Andrea Agnelli flew from Pisa to Greece to negotiate the deal himself on Tuesday. Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, also arrived from England to join the party.

It is being stated that Ronaldo has signed on a four-year contract and will earn €30 million (£26.5m/$35m), while Madrid is expected to get €100m (£88m/$117m) from the transfer of Ronaldo to Turin.

“Real Madrid CF communicates that, in response to the will and request expressed by the player Cristiano Ronaldo, he has agreed to transfer to Juventus FC.”

The 33-year-old player reached the superstar status when he became the then most expensive transfer when he joined Madrid from Manchester United in 2009.

During his nine lone years stay at the Bernabeu, Ronaldo has won 15 trophies, which includes two La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey trophies.

He helped Madrid to win the La Decima as they beat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League finals in 2014 and also played a vital role in winning the same competition three times in a row in the previous three seasons.

The Santiago Bernabeu club thanked Ronaldo for all he has done for the team all these years and expressed their gratitude towards the star player in their statement.

"Real Madrid wants to express its gratitude to a player who has proved to be the best in the world and who has marked one of the brightest times in the history of our club and world football.

"Beyond the conquered titles, the trophies achieved and the triumphs achieved in the playing fields during these 9 years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, work, responsibility, talent and improvement… For Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo will always be one of the great symbols and a unique reference for the next generations.

"Real Madrid will always be your home."

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner will have a chance to win his third different European league title after he shockingly joined the Turin side.

Madrid has previously denied of placing any bids for the Paris Saint-Germain duo of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. The Los Blancos is now preparing to play the 2018-19 season under their new coach, Julen Lopetegui, who took over from Zinedine Zidane after the Frenchman decided to resign after the Champions League win.
