Real Madrid superstar has been named as the UEFA Best player for the season 2015-16, but he said according to him Atletico Madrid’s forward Antoine Grezmann should been the worthy winner.
Real Madrid and Portuguese superstar forward Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann to the race to the UEFA Best Player.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been name the Europe best player for the second time in Monaco after his marvelous perform with club and Country. But the Ronaldo thinks Griezmann would have “deserved it”.
The superstar forward helped Real Madrid to lift their 11th UEFA Champions League trophy and also displayed amazing performance in EURO 2016 and take Portugal all the way to win their first ever major trophy.
"As I said on the stage, he [Griezmann] deserved to win this trophy," Ronaldo told. "He lost two finals so it was unlucky for him but I think he's a fantastic player, he's a good boy, he's my neighbour – he lives next to me – and he deserved it.
"But he will win for sure one day – I hope so."
Ronaldo scored 32 goals for his club in 2016 and is hoping to lift his fourth Ballon d’Or, he said
"I hope to win the Ballon d'Or but let me enjoy first this trophy. It's amazing. I wish to win tonight and I'm so proud. I have to thank you to my team mates – Real Madrid and national – because they helped me a lot to win these trophies.
Asked if last season was his most successful, Ronaldo said: "In terms of collective, probably yes. We won two amazing trophies. I can say yes. In terms of the collective, yes."
