After starting the Hero I-league 2017 with a own goal draw against the Kolkata based I-league giant East Bengal FC, the Northeast based I-league club Aizawl FC has named their first win of the league against the debutant club Minerva Punjab FC, which ended with a own goal by Loveday Okechukwu towards the end of the second half.

The match remained goalless until 94th minute when Loveday miscued his header to score an own-goal from a scathing long-corner taken by Mahmoud Al-Amna who was eventually bestowed with the Hero of the Match award.

I LEAGUE:

And after one draw and one win in their two league match, the Northeast based I-league club, Aizawl FC are currently standing at the 2nd with four points below the table toppers Mohun Bagan, who standing at top of the table with six points as the Kolkata giants have earned their recent three points on Friday against the Shillong Lajong FC.

FOOTBALL MATCH:

After winning the match, Aizawl FC coach Khalid Jamil expressed his exuberance at their victory, “We controlled the match right from the beginning, and deserve the three points.”

And Minerva Punjab FC's head coach Surinder Singh accepted their defeat, as he said, “Both victories and defeats are a part of football. My boys worked really hard, and I am proud of their performance.”
