Manchester United Silences Critics after an Inspiring Comeback

Football News: United’s head coach, Jose Mourinho, hits out at his critics as his team came from a goal down to win the semi-final 2-1 against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday.

United to feature in FA Cup final in May as they beat Tottenham 2-1.

Dele Alli of Tottenham Hotspur gave his team an early lead before Alexis Sanchez levelled the score for United, while Ander Herrara’s decisive goal sent them through to the final.

After the win Jose Mourinho turned on the critics as he and his team have faced fierce criticism in recent times, as they have failed to challenge Manchester City to the Premier League title and have also crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Sevilla.

Mourinho said, “We should ask ourselves why there is too many critics on all of us?

“We can finish second with six more points than last year and to do that with all the fantastic teams we play against will be an achievement for a club that couldn't do it for a few years now.

“And it will be a fourth final in three years. So, maybe too much criticism?

“We deserve it. If we split the match into periods we were the best team for many of these periods.

“Even when they had the ball when we were winning we were totally in control.

“We lost control after it went 1-0. At half-time we spoke. We came back late for the second half because we spoke a lot and organised ourselves.”

United will face the winners of Chelsea and Southampton semi-final, and if they manage to win, it would their third trophy in two seasons under Mourinho.

Spurs coach, Mauricio Pochettino, who is still waiting for his first trophy after four years in charge, said, “No regrets. I thought we dominated the first half completely but the second half was more even a competitive.

“When you compete with a team like United it is always 50/50 and this time the victory went to them.

“Everyone feels we are close and we can nearly touch it.

“It was an even game. We were close but not close enough.”
