BCCI AGAINST LODHA REFORMATION, TO FILE REVIEW PETITION

Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) not at all happy with the reformations suggested by Lodha panel. The association may file review petition to get rid of those reforms

Supreme Court accepted majority of the Lodha Committee reformations and ordered BCCI to change it’s structure within a deadline of six months. The association is not at all happy with the verdict of the court and called for a general meeting on August 5. The board appointed Markandey Katju, the former Supreme Court Judge to lead them understand the suggestions of Lodha Panel.

The suggestions put forward by Lodha panel were that, no member of the board can exceed 70 years of age. Government employees will not be allowed to hold any position in the association, not even the lowest one and the board should follow one-state-one-vote system.

BCCI members arranged a special meeting on August 5 to discuss about the issue. If Lodha panel’s suggestions are to be implemented, present BBCI president Anurag Thakur have to quit his post as Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh in order to remain BCCI president.

After the meeting, the board interacted with the media saying “That was something that came up in the SGM,”
