The president of the Indian Football Association, Praful Patel has spoken of his desire to see India work towards its objective of qualifying for the World Cup.
Currently the Indian Football Team is ranked 137 in the world after defeating the 114th FIFA ranked nation, Costa Rica under the coaching of the English man Stephen Constantine.
Qualification for the 2022 World Cup was the target set when Robert Baan (The former technical director) released his Master Plan as Lakshya 2022 back in 2012.

And the president of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), Praful Patel has stated that India aims to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
As Patel told Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, the body tasked with local delivery of the 2022 World Cup.
“We will aspire towards qualifying for the 2022 World Cup because of the support our national team is going to receive and will need to ensure that right steps are taken towards realising this objective,”
“Indian football’s further growth will therefore be of direct long-term to Qatar football, including the successful hosting of the 2022 World Cup,” he added.
