Dinesh Karthik Will Miss the Trent Bridge Test Due To Finger Injury

The Men in Blue have been battling with injuries alongside England since the moment they landed in the United Kingdom.

Cricket news: The wicketkeeper-batsman supposedly injured himself during the Lord’s Test

They had to miss their main pacers in the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah for the first two Tests. While Bhuvneshwar is out of the remainder of the series Bumrah might feature in the third Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

The injuries did not affect much as the other pacers in the likes of Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami have bowled fantastically.

The team has once again been jolted before the do-or-die game as their wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik have been recently ruled out of the game due to finger injury.

However Karthik’s prospects of featuring in the game were looking bleak because of his poor performances in the previous Tests.

He had managed to score just 21 from four innings and his work with the gloves was also not good. Moreover his job was to bat with the tail-enders, where he failed and thus put pressure on the other batsmen.

Harsha Bhogle, the renowned commentator, said while giving an interview to Cricbuzz that Karthik might have injured his finger as during the Lord’s Test some balls were staying low and as a result he might have been hit a couple of times.

“We are seeing a lot of Rishabh Pant here actually. With Dinesh Karthik, I don’t know if the finger injury is hurting as well. But Pant is looking in the thick of the things,” he said.

Karthik had not batted much in the nets and was seen just doing throwdowns during practice sessions at Trent Bridge.

The Indian squad will see more changes as Bumrah will come into the squad in place of Kuldeep Yadav. It will also be interesting to see if Shikhar Dhawan gets his place back in the squad after being dropped in the Lord’s Test.
