Rohit Sharma Set To Play for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy

Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma is all set to play for his domestic team Mumbai in the knockout stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Bihar.

Cricket news: Rohit last played in the domestic circuit for Mumbai back in 2017

The right-handed batsman was not selected in the Test team against the Windies and as a result he is available to play the final phase of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This is why Ajit Agarkar, who heads the selection committee of Mumbai, has included him in the squad.

Rohit last played in the domestic circuit back in 2017 when he was making a comeback to the national side. He then played in the IPL and was later named in the Champions Trophy squad.

Since then The Hitman has been in prime form in limited overs format and most recently he led his country to their 7th Asia Cup title in UAE. He was the stand-in captain as the regular skipper Virat Kohli was given a break after the hectic England tour.

“Yes, he will…we’ll pick the team on October 10. Rohit will play for us in one or two games. The team will be led by Shreyas Iyer, who captained Mumbai in their last two games in the league stage,” Agarkar was quoted as saying to The Times of India.

Like Rohit, his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan might also play a game or two for his domestic side Delhi, which is currently captained by Gautam Gambhir. Currently Dhawan is on a holiday but will have to return soon and partner Rohit in the limited overs series against the Windies.
