Indian Super League: The 2015 title-holder will be at training as well as playing practice matches with lower division teams of Italy in Perugia
MS Dhoni and Abhishek Bachchan are the co-owners of Chennaiyin FC, the ISL title holder of 2015 session. The team will be going for training session on Tuesday and also be playing a few practice matches with some lower division Italian teams in Perugia.
The training is scheduled to held at Stadio Ellera, it is the place located at 164km north of Italian capital Rome in the Corciano Town Council of Perugia. It is the same venue as the last year’s after which Chenniyin lifted the ISL cup of 2015 session.
“The month-long pre-season camp last year made a big difference in our eventual results. The players got the best possible preparation with excellent facilities and some very competitive practice matches. At the same time, the whole squad bonded well on and off the pitch with the Indian and foreign players getting to know each other better ahead of the start of the season," said Marco Materazzi, chief coach of Chennaiyin FC.
“This year we want to have a similar preparation and also improve ourselves further following the lessons of last season. The first training session in Perugia starts the road to our title defence with the goal of going all the way again this year,” he concluded.
The whole team, consisting the Indians and the foreigners are anticipated to be present at the training base by Monday where as some of the players have already arrived at the venue. The first tutelage plenary will be starting from Tuesday, August 23.
The whole squad will return India on September 21 before the league and will be facing Atletico de Kolkata in their first match scheduled to held at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium on Sunday, October 2.
