Change in the Head Position of the Gunners

Football News: The Frenchman, Arsene Wenger, has announced his resignation at the end of the season, after serving for almost 22 years at Arsenal, having won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups during his stay.

Luis Enrique reportedly contacted by Arsenal to replace Wenger as head coach

The 68-year-old might not get another club to manage but is willing to take up a role with a national team or even a position as a sporting director.

Before his resignation, Wenger wants his team to win the Europa League, which would feature Arsenal in the next Champions League.

The Gunners will have to face Atletico Madrid in two legs of the semi-final and then will have to face Red Bull Salzburg or Marseille, if they are to lift the crown.

Apart from that, Wenger will have five more Premier League games with Arsenal against West Ham, Manchester United, Burnley, Leicester City and Huddersfield Town.

Meanwhile, Ed Malyon of The Independent feels that Arsenal are considering Luis Enrique as a possible replacement for Wenger.

"The 47-year-old coach counts on supporters inside the north London club's hierarchy and shares an existing relationship with Raul Sanllehi, Arsenal's new head of football relations," Malyon said. "That would help smooth any arrival, but the former Spain midfielder has scared off some inside the club by demanding a salary on a par with Wenger."

Enrique, a former Barcelona midfielder, had previously managed clubs like Roma, Celta Vigo and Barcelona B team.

He rose to fame when he became the manager of Barcelona senior team in 2014 and managed the team until 2017, while winning two La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey and one Champions League title.

However, Enrique admitted that he needs an exciting project to return to management. “There has been interested from clubs, but it has to be something that really excites me. There’s no other club where I’ll be able to work with better players than at Barcelona”, said Enrique.

Wenger has transformed Arsenal in many ways in his long 22 years. Whoever be the new manager, he would definitely need some time to put his own mark.
